The catastrophe occurred on 7 June. It brought one of the heaviest rain in history. On 8 June, it was photo-taking day :)

Pervert Committing Suicide June 8, 2008

The following is a TRUE story from a local Chinese newspaper.

Ah Beng aka Pervert just bought a new camera phone. He wanted to try it out. Instead of taking random pictures, he decided to take pictures of the pretty Ah Lian who lives next door. However being a typical Ah Beng, he was shy. So he quietly took pictures of Ah Lian without permission

However Ah Lian saw Ah Beng’s phone and screamed. It is an obvious reaction judging from the condition of Ah Lian: half naked, messy hair and no makeup.

Ah Lian’s scream alerted her neighbors who went over to her house to help her. Ah Lian told them there is a pervert aka ‘ma lat lout’ taking pictures of her from Ah Beng’s house. They quickly knocked on Ah Beng’s door demanding that he surrender himself.

Ah Beng was scared. He doesn’t know what to do. He was afraid that his neighbors might beat him up and most importantly steal his new camera phone.

Being a typical kiasu Ah Beng, he vowed to live and die with his precious phone. As a result, he decided to escape via the most dangerous route ever attempted by an Ah Beng.

In the end, Ah Beng managed to escape safely but he’s not sure about the condition of his phone

Yep, Ah Beng ESCAPED to hospital where he will spend a very very long time there. This is good news for him because his daily expenses for the next three months or so will be covered by taxpayers’ money, something which many Hong Kongers are craving for :-p

In the following picture, do you see a distinctive figure?

The Pillar from Far

Perhaps a closer look?

Nearer view

This is the Pillar of Shame. Don’t know what is it for? Look at the following pictures:

I suppose you understood the purpose of this pillar now.

Originally it was in bronze. However in line with the Olympics Torch run, the creators decided to repaint it to orange to show protest over China’s bad human rights records. I’m sure you are aware of the ‘chaos’ that happened in Tibet recently.

A closer look:

Btw, the pillar was sculptured by a Danish artist known as Jens Galschiot. Just a few days ago, he and his two sons were bared from entering HK. They were here to join the protest on China’s infringement of human rights in Tibet.

HK will be hosting the Olympics Torch Relay tomorrow. I’m predicting some heavy demonstrations by people wearing orange-colored T-Shirts. I shall get my camera ready for it :)

Before I go into the main topic, allow me to digress a bit.

The photos in my previous post was taken from my friend’s (Ah Sun) iPhone! He bought it in the US for about USD300! It’s cheap OK. I’m itching for the phone lol

Now let’s get into serious topic. Have you heard of Oasis Airline? It is a budget airline based in HK. Two days ago, this airline went bankrupt all of a sudden, leaving their passengers with their pants down. I know someone from my hostel is one of the victims. He bought a ticket back to London a few months ago and was left yelling ‘I want my money back’ together with hundreds of passengers at the airport.

You may ask why is this issue important?

The business nature of this company is similar to our own AirAsia. Recently I blog about AirAsia charging passengers for checking in their luggages. I see this as a sign of bad things to come! All airlines companies in the world are facing problem with increasing fuel price and are adjusting themselves to cope with this problem. This is just one of the many problems that airlines are facing right now.

Oasis Airlines actually made their maiden flight to London in October 2006 by introducing a ridiculous fare of HKD1000 each way, a strategy that AirAsia is sooooooo fond of using. I suppose from now onwards we need to pray that AirAsia will not end up like Oasis. I’m sure you do not want to be yelling “I WANT MY MONEY BACK” in the airport.

On a separate note, do you listen to Maroon5? They have released two albums thus far and all of their songs are about ‘breaking up’ lol. Here’s one that I love listening to:

How about OneRepublic? Another massive massive band:
