Pervert Committing Suicide June 8, 2008

The following is a TRUE story from a local Chinese newspaper.

Ah Beng aka Pervert just bought a new camera phone. He wanted to try it out. Instead of taking random pictures, he decided to take pictures of the pretty Ah Lian who lives next door. However being a typical Ah Beng, he was shy. So he quietly took pictures of Ah Lian without permission

However Ah Lian saw Ah Beng’s phone and screamed. It is an obvious reaction judging from the condition of Ah Lian: half naked, messy hair and no makeup.

Ah Lian’s scream alerted her neighbors who went over to her house to help her. Ah Lian told them there is a pervert aka ‘ma lat lout’ taking pictures of her from Ah Beng’s house. They quickly knocked on Ah Beng’s door demanding that he surrender himself.

Ah Beng was scared. He doesn’t know what to do. He was afraid that his neighbors might beat him up and most importantly steal his new camera phone.

Being a typical kiasu Ah Beng, he vowed to live and die with his precious phone. As a result, he decided to escape via the most dangerous route ever attempted by an Ah Beng.

In the end, Ah Beng managed to escape safely but he’s not sure about the condition of his phone

Yep, Ah Beng ESCAPED to hospital where he will spend a very very long time there. This is good news for him because his daily expenses for the next three months or so will be covered by taxpayers’ money, something which many Hong Kongers are craving for :-p

Open Book Exam May 6, 2008

Have you taken an open book exam before? In this type of examination, candidates are allowed to bring in course materials into the exam hall and use them to answer the questions.

Things that I brought into the exam

The most important thing is the text book. It is a must even though the condition is probably worst than salted-fish.

The next thing is lecture slides. They are important even though the contents are similar to the text book

Next is homework sets

In case you are unsure of your solutions, then the following are important

From this examination, I realized that it is actually quite cumbersome to do the exam with so many stuffs on the table. In fact, I did not have time to look at the homework sets and their solutions. The table is just not big enough and most of the time during the exam, pressure conquers everything.

This examw as held in the Main Hall (Loke Yew Hall). It can accommodate about 200 students but there are only 11 people taking this paper. What they did was put in students from other courses into the exam venue.

The paper is OK considering the result is either pass or fail only. It really took a lot of pressure off me. Besides the purpose of the course is to introduce new ideas to graduate students. The subject itself is quite controversial because it talks mainly about the inconsistency of current Mathematics. To put it simply, anything that has to do with infinity is INCORRECT! However the instructors’ ideas have not been accepted by the community but IF they do accept the fact that MATHEMATICS IS INCONSISTENT, then I reckon it could change the way we learn Maths.

Anyway the subject is very interesting. I learned a lot from this course. In fact I could sense that current Mathematics is FLAWED!!!!

One of my friends from the Law Faculty told me that he sat for ‘take-home exams’ before. The first time he was given THREE freaking days to do the exam AT HOME! He told me it was HELL LOL. It sounds pretty interesting. I’m looking forward to sit for this type of examination, if I have the opportunity..hehehe…HELL could be an interesting place you know…..
